Types and Characteristics of Printed Circuit Boards

1. Rigid printed circuit board

Rigid printed circuit board (PCB) have a certain degree of mechanical strength, and the components mounted on them have certain resistance to bending, and are usually in a flat state when used. Rigid PCBs have good flatness and excellent bending resistance, and have always been the material of first choice for electronic devices.

 

2. Flexible PCB

Flexible PCBs are made of soft plastic or other soft insulating materials. The plates used to make flexible PCBs are easy to bend and stretch. When flexible PCBs are used, they can be bent arbitrarily according to installation requirements.

 

3. Single-side PCB

Single-side PCBs are the most basic and simple printed circuit boards in many types of PCB boards for sale, with parts on one side and circuits on the other side. Since there are only layered conductors, it is called the single-side PCB. Single-side PCBs are usually made of laminates or glass cloth, and their conductive patterns are relatively simple, so technologies of silk screen printing or wet film are often used in custom PCB manufacturer.

 

4. Double-side PCB

Double-side PCBs are the gateway to higher technology applications. By using via holes to alternate between the top and bottom layers, they can allow closer (perhaps more) route tracks to run simultaneously.

 

5. Multi-layer PCB

Multi-layer PCBs are printed circuit boards with three or more conductive patterns. The inner conductive pattern of the multi-layer board is superimposed with the insulating adhesive sheet, and the outer layer is covered with foil and pressed into a whole multi-layer board. The holes of the multi-layer board must be metalized to lead out and connect the printed circuit sandwiched between the insulating base materials.
